Color in Motion
by Dorothy Gillespie
Exhibition Opening:
Saturday, October 18, 2025 | 6-8PM
The Cornell Art Museum, in collaboration with the Dorothy Gillespie Foundation, presents a vibrant survey of 20th-century American artist Dorothy Gillespie. A leader in the women’s art movement, Gillespie helped shape modern sculpture with her pioneering, large-scale works in painted, cut aluminum—ribbons, enchanted towers, and jubilant bursts that animate public spaces. Spanning abstract expressionism, decorative abstraction, site-specific installations, and art in the public realm, the exhibition highlights her far-reaching influence and prolific career.

Discover the exuberant ribbons, towers, and bursts of Dorothy Gillespie at the world-class Cornell Art Museum, presented with the Dorothy Gillespie Foundation. Admission to the opening is free to the public; donations are appreciated to help us bring more world-class art to Delray Beach.
