Discover the Stories Behind Persistence of Matter
What happens when a hard drive, a retired surfboard, or a drawer of old silverware reaches the end of its life? For artists Mike Silverman, Jake Jones, and Eric Shupe, it's just the beginning.
Join us for an engaging artist talk featuring three creators from Persistence of Matter as they share how they transform discarded materials into extraordinary works of art. From reflective sculptures made of obsolete electronics to intricately carved surfboards and life-size figures crafted from donated flatware, each artist offers a unique perspective on creativity, sustainability, and transformation.
The evening begins with a reception, followed by a moderated conversation exploring their creative processes, inspiration, and the stories behind their work. Audience questions are encouraged.
Admission is free, but RSVP is requested. Donations to the Cornell Art Museum are greatly appreciated and help support future exhibitions and educational programs that bring exceptional contemporary art to our community.
