From Primitive to Surreal by Gustavo Novoa
The Cornell Art Museum, in collaboration with the Findlay Galleries of Palm Beach, is honored to present a collection of approximately 30 paintings by Chilean-born Gustavo Novoa. Gustavo’s one-man shows in New York, Paris, Palm Beach, and Beverly Hills established him as a champion of ecology and wildlife preservation. Novoa paints radiant, dream-like, luxurious paradise jungles where unlikely groups of wildlife coexist peacefully. His fine paintings of animals are primitive yet exquisitely detailed, set against lush and colorful backgrounds. In more recent years, Novoa has been involved in philanthropic causes always related to the preservation of wildlife. Recipients of Novoa’s shows at the Findlay Galleries, Panthera, a non-profit foundation for the rescue and survival of large felines in Africa, the Palm Beach Zoo, and most recently, the San Antonio Zoo in Texas. As a writer, Novoa has published several books: “Paradise Found”, “Paradise Revisited”, “Jungle Fables” (English and Spanish), and “Seven Arrows”.
Gustavo Novoa's works are highly sought after and in the collections of Presidents, First Ladies, Diplomats, and Royalty, to name a few. The Findlay Gallery in Palm Beach has held the most comprehensive selection of his work over the last fifty years.
