MEDIA ALERT: New Winter & Spring Exhibitions Open at Cornell Art Museum in Downtown Delray Beach

WHAT: The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has announced four new exhibitions coming to the Cornell Art Museum this Winter and Spring: “Season of Red” with ArtsUnited Florida, “Painting in Paradise,” “Reimagining Palm Beach” by Serge Strosberg, and “Central American Modernism.” The Cornell Art Museum, which is free and open to the public, is located at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33444.

  • Season of Red Exhibition with ArtsUnited Florida (December 8, 2023 through February 4, 2024) – The "Season of Red" exhibition will showcase the positive attributes of the color red drawn from the Pride Flag and, in the holiday season, its message of love and life through art. The use of the color red is a motivational force for positive change. Artwork will evoke the color “Red,” a bold and mighty hue emitting a powerful, motivational life-giving energy with a rich symbolism.

  • Painting in Paradise (January 5 through February 26, 2024) – Paradise Palms & Sculpture Gardens, a well-kept secret in Delray Beach is about to be unveiled. The gardens consist of 20 acres of garden environments, original sculptures, water features and structures. The property is meticulously groomed and prided on having the largest collection of palms in the world. A group of artists were invited to paint their interpretation of Paradise Palms & Sculpture Gardens and their works painted in Plein Air at Paradise Palms will be included in the “Painting in Paradise” exhibition.

  • Reimagining Palm Beach by Serge Strosberg (February 9 through May, 2024) – Step back in time for a glimpse of Florida’s rich history with a contemporary style. Explore days of yore in Serge’s lively portraits of Henry Flagler, Addison Mizner and other prominent founding members of Florida. Special portrait addition of Solomon Spady, Delray Beach’s prominent African American educator and community leader in collaboration with Spady Museum and Delray Beach Historical Society. Guests will also get first view of a special AI feature where Serge ‘ReImagines’ prominent Palm Beach points-of-interest by bringing them to life in his stimulating contemporary style.

  • Central American Modernism  (March 8, 2024 through July 28, 2024) – Central American art is Latin American art at its greatest – worldly and sophisticated and yet also profoundly native. The exhibition will showcase works of Central American masters with distinct qualities that make each of them uniquely valuable. All works are courtesy of the private collection of Mark Ford, many of which have never been shown in public. Mark Ford and Suzanne Brooks authored the book Central American Modernism, a comprehensive introduction to Central American art – a bilingual beau-livre that not only tells the story of how Modernism came to each country, but demonstrates the magnitude of the talent that Central America contributed to Modernism.
