DETAILS: The Art of Healing installation has traveled extensively, picking up some wonderful travel dust along the way. It was first revealed at Burning Man in 2022 and was meant as a healing vessel from the Playa. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer powdered gold. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as an art form. A repaired piece shows the scars and history of an object, highlighting what it has survived and overcome rather than disguising a presumed flaw.

The Kintsugi installation is comprised of a large rotating Broken Heart Sculpture with gold-colored fissures surrounded by Whimsical Trees and heart shapes containing messages from a spiritual world, the universe. According to the artist, “With the global pandemic and global conflict, loss of life and love, guilt, shame and so much suffering, we all came away a bit broken. It is time to heal. While walls can protect, they cannot heal a broken heart. When the time is right to heal, like the ancient Japanese art, we turn to nature.”
