A Collaboration

River of Grass

Opening Reception:
Thursday, October 1, 2026 | 6 - 8PM

Exhibition Dates:
October 2, 2026 - January 24, 2027

The Cornell Art Museum is proud to collaborate with Fiber Artist Miami Association and The Center: Hollywood Art Culture Center to present River of Grass exhibition. This site-specific installation will feature several artists addressing the Florida Everglades’ ecological and cultural narrative.

Custom-built, 6-foot square looms serve as both a canvas and an architectural element, creating corridors of women environments in the two lower galleries. These sculpture interpretations of this vital Florida ecosystem using fiber arts, natural elements and weaving techniques are both inspired and an homage to the 1947 book by Marjory Stoneman Douglas, “The Everglades River of Grass.”

  • Kick off the exhibition with an evening of art, live music, refreshments, and community at the Cornell Art Museum.

  • Meet the artist and connect with the community.

  • Admission is a $5 donation.

  • Meet & Greet with the artist.

  • Make an evening of it—explore the exhibition, stroll through Downtown Delray Beach, and discover the art, culture, dining, shopping, and entertainment that make the Village by the Sea a destination.‍

We are especially pleased to collaborate with the Fiber Artist Miami Association and The Center: Hollywood Art & Culture Center to bring River of Grass to the Cornell Art Museum.

Through their innovative work in this unique collection of woven works of art, the artists honor Marjory Stoneman Douglas’ enduring vision while reminding us of the Everglades’ vital role in Florida’s ecological and cultural identity—and the importance of protecting it.
